Save More Money By Stacking Your Car Insurance.
Stacking and What Your Insurance Company Won’t Tell You
Have you ever heard of “stacking” your limits of coverage? If not, that’s okay. You and millions of other Americans might be missing out on this little trick that could save you thousands.
Insurance companies may be reluctant to tell you about the benefits of Stacking your insurance coverage. We’ll explain what stacking does and why it’s so important for you to include it in your auto insurance coverage for 2015.
What is Stacking?
Stacking is essentially combining the Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage(UM/UIM) you have on all of your vehicles to benefit you in the event of an accident. You only need a few things to qualify for Stacking:
- More than one vehicle
- All your vehicles to be insured by the same provider
That’s it.
Stacking works like this: Say you have 2 cars and both have $100,000 per person Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage. If you choose to stack your coverage, you multiply the limits of your coverage ($100,000) by the number of cars on your insurance policy (2).
That means your new “stacked” UM/UIM coverage would be $200,000 per person. Stacking exists so that you can pull from both insurance plans to help cover you in the event of an accident.
Makes sense, right?
How to Get Stacking Now
Check your plan to make sure you’re in on the deal. If you’re not, don’t fret. Just call your insurance agent and have them stack your limits. They know the drill.
For less than a few dollars a month, you’ll be able to pull from the stacked limits of your UM/UIM coverage on all your vehicles in the event of a serious accident.
If the person that hits you has the state minimum, your medical bills could far exceed their coverage. Make sure you’re protected with Stacking.
