Mayer Brown and AT&T Reach Unusual Deal in Tax Overcharge Settlement

AT&T isn’t on the hook for the bulk of a $1 billion settlement of a
class action alleging overcharging for taxes. Instead, AT&T agreed to
work with the plaintiffs lawyers to chase after tax refunds from state
and local governments for 32 million consumers.
