Attorney

John T. Gentry III is active in motion and trial practice in the South Carolina state courts. His practice focuses on civil litigation, including personal injury, institutional negligence, insurance bad faith, business and employment litigation, and probate matters. John also handles criminal cases, and has assisted Mr. Clekis in gaining favorable outcomes for clients facing serious charges. Before joining the Clekis Law Firm as an associate, John clerked for the Firm for two years, where he gained invaluable experience in both civil and criminal matters in the state system.

Education

John is a graduate of Furman University and a native of the Upstate. He graduated with honors from the Charleston School of Law, where he served as Marketing Editor of the Federal Courts Law Review. John earned four CALI Awards for receiving the highest grades in his section in the subjects of Business Associations, Constitutional Law, Evidence, and Separation of Powers. John also served on the School’s Trial Advocacy Board, where he won the 2011 Best Advocate Award, and helped lead the CSOL trial advocacy team to victory in the 2012 Battle of the Carolinas Mock Trial Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina. John also served his section as Senator on the Student Bar Association for two terms, and was honored to lecture at a Continuing Legal Education seminar on the topic of finding fast and free legal research on the Internet in February 2013
